NEW Shibaura Institute of Technology
Shibaura Institute of Technology is one of the four major engineering universities in Tokyo, Japan, and the only private engineering university among the 37 super global universities designated by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology.
In 2015, we signed an MOU with the Department of Industrial Design at Kookmin University, and since 2016, we have been holding the SIT-KMU Students Design Workshop at the Tamachi campus for ten days in early February every year. The workshop is one of the international events that industrial design students are most eager to participate in.
As of September 2023, a total of 7 workshops have been held, with a total of 246 students (176 undergraduate students from the Department of Industrial Design) participating and a cumulative total of 83 teams.
While regular workshops are held at Shibaura Institute of Technology in Tokyo during the winter break, there have also been programs where students from Shibaura Institute of Technology visit Kooming University during the spring and summer breaks.
The exchange program with Shibaura University of Technology is ongoing. So far, three undergraduate students and one graduate student have gone in exchange, and two of the graduates have been employed by Japanese Companies. In the graduate program, Kookmin University and Shibaura University have a double degree agreement, where students attend Kookmin University for one year each and submit two master's theses.
