Department of Industrial Design trains talented young creatives to design innovative consumer products, electronic devices, and digital devices that will help improve people's lives in our society.
We have designed our program to enable students to explore meaningful user experiences by seeing the culture of our society as a whole while considering the aesthetics of the products. A wide range of courses will help students to learn diverse design skills and offer project-based learning to apply adequate skills in the design process which will promote industrial competitiveness.
During their years of studies, students will have the opportunity to design information and communication devices such as smartphones or IoT devices, home appliances such as TVs and washing machines, transportation devices such as automobiles, office supplies, kitchen equipment, robotics, aerospace, digital media, VR and games, and public facilities.
The fields of advancement after graduation are electronic product design, household goods design, robot design, industrial device design, user experience design, UI design, service design, game design, design strategy management, design administration, and design education. Graduates’ qualifications will allow them to successfully integrate a goods and services company, become a design consultant, a design entrepreneur, or a professor and researcher in a design-related department.
Currently, Kookmin University's Department of Industrial Design has about 250 undergraduate students, about 50 graduate students in related departments, and 12 academics and lecturers devoting themselves to education and research.
